Parents of Children with Special Needs

PCSN is a support group for
Parents of Children with Special Needs.

For more information about PCSN and to see Temple Grandin's talk about Autism, visit http://www.pcsncolorado.org

We meet the fourth Monday of every month from 6:00pm-8:15pm. Our church provides a free meal and childcare while the parents fellowship. We often bring in a speaker who is a specialist in some area that will be helpful to parents.

All other Mondays, we have a mother’s night out! Mothers who just want to fellowship come to Borders at 6:00pm and just talk until they want to go home.

We also have a Sunday School class for special needs young adults older than 12. Younger children are mainstreamed into typical Sunday School classes.

What does it take to work with these children? It does not take special knowledge and training as much as it takes special love. We have volunteers in this church from the age of 11 to over 60. We do the same things everyone else does to provide a fun evening for children so their parents can have some support. We have crafts, games and music. But most of all, we offer love. We do have some people with limited training, grad students from CSU in the field of occupational therapy and nursing students from Aims.
