Our Master's Open Golf Tournament is an annual fundraiser
for Chris and Sheryl Brumley’s ministry in Haiti through Global Outreach International.
Haiti
Even a quick internet search of Haiti these days will reveal the utter difficulty the country is facing. News headlines read things like “Political abyss and vicious gangs,” “how did it get so bad,” and “The U.S. and the world must step into Haiti, not just for the kidnappings — but for the kids.”
These things are most certainly heavy on the hearts of Chris and Sheryl Brumley and many others who have poured out their lives in ministry to the Haitian communities, where friends, colleagues, students, and brothers and sisters in Christ still reside amidst the violence and chaos.
So what does ministry to Haiti look like in light of all this?
Following is an update from Chris and Sheryl.
We are currently maintaining the feeding program for the children whose locations are known. Food is being distributed family by family. We are also doing a feeding program through the church for those that have little or no food in their homes.
We continue with the Elderly feeding program (Gran Moun) in addition to 30+ other individuals that are still in the area and can get to our director's home to pick up the food. Our guys had been fixing wells this winter and spring, but the supplies have now run out. We are praying for an avenue to get more supplies to them.
We continue to pay all our staff their salaries, and they do what they can to help others and serve by helping to distribute food. We pray that we can get the schools, Bible school, clinic, and youth programs back up and running this fall, but the gangs are still in control in our zone. We are waiting for peace, so those programs can resume.
Below are some pictures of the Gran Moun and also a few of our guys fixing wells in May before the supplies ran out.
Thank you all for your continued support of the tournament and of the people in Haiti.
We are full of gratitude for this ministry and the means it provides to continue to minister in Haiti.
