Psalm 90

Good Morning “Day Number-ers”.  Today we are in Psalm 90.

A Prayer of Moses the man of God.  How cool would it be for The God of all creation to call you a Man or Woman of God?  What does such a man include in his prayer?

Acknowledgement that God is:
- Creator of it all.
- Eternal.  He existed apart from it all, before it ALL.
- He holds all life in His hands and determines the second it ceases.
- We ought to stand in fear, for He is perfect in wrath and discipline both.

Moses prays God will teach us to number our days.  The Hebrew Word is one that suggests not simply counting, but weighing out - taking an accounting of.  In other words, consider not just the number of - but the content of our days. “Teach us to number our days…” Why?  “…that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”  Psalms‬ ‭90‬:‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

How many days would you guess you have left?  How will you spend them?  You see, considering this question spurs wisdom - as opposed to foolishness.  It’s foolish not to.  If I was to embark on a road trip, with the goal of reaching a particular destination, let’s say Hawaii, it would be foolish for me not to consider how I will get there.  For obvious reasons, choosing the right interstates to drive in a car, might not be the best choice.

Ultimately I would guess most would say they want to spend eternity in paradise.  But there’s a problem - our default destination is hell (Romans 3:23, 6:23) But, “… God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬ ‭NIV‬‬  We must choose Jesus, repent of our sin, and BELIEVE (Acts 3:19).  That’s our starting point.  Now consider… how do you want to spend your FOREVER?  You get to decide.  How we live the rest of our days determines it?

Jesus in Matthew 6:19-21 urges us to store up for ourselves treasures in Heaven… not on earth.  Seems foolish not to right?  Why spin our wheels to store up things on earth that are temporary, when instead we can focus on storing up treasures we will enjoy FOREVER?

How many days do you have left?  We simply don’t know. 1, 20, 50, maybe 80…?  Number them all… that you might gain a heart of wisdom.

Love you all!  Dig in!
