Good Morning “Answer Demanders.” Today we are in Habakkuk 1.
The book of Habakkuk records the prophet’s “conversations” with God during the late 7th century BC. This book takes the form of Habakkuk’s “complaints” or “laments” and Gods answers. Many of Habakkuk’s complaints / questions may sound familiar. We hear and think some of the same things in our day. Pay close attention to Gods answers. He’s always bigger than we imagine.
I often hear the question… Why does God let bad things happen? Why doesn’t He do something?
“Why do you make me look at injustice? Why do you tolerate wrongdoing? Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and conflict abounds.”
Habakkuk 1:3 NIV
My answer usually is something like: He’s ALWAYS in control, He’s The God who sees, and has a plan. He is working in, around and through the injustice we see to accomplish His Work! He will deal with sin in His perfect timing, not ours.
Here’s just part of His answer to Habakkuk. You’ll have to dig in to read the rest.
““Look at the nations and watch— and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.”
Habakkuk 1:5 NIV
Habakkuk continues…
“Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrongdoing. Why then do you tolerate the treacherous? Why are you silent while the wicked swallow up those more righteous than themselves?”
Habakkuk 1:13 NIV
Ah man… no answer for that one today. At least not in my writing. The Good News is… He’s already revealed His answer through Habakkuk. You’ll have to read on.
Love you all! Dig in and live it out!
