Good Morning “Always in Him”. Today we are in Hosea 10.
Let me start by once again addressing the daily dose of harshness I’ve been dishing out. I get it, every day more in your face hell, fire and damnation.
More than 3 years ago I committed to giving you a daily devo from each chapter of Scripture WE ARE IN, as we read The Bible together. If you’re reading The Bible with us, you likely understand and recognize that the harshness of my Devo’s comes from the harshness of His Word! He has expectations for His children and when they fail to meet those expectations there is trouble. Simple, we fail a lot.
It’s only arresting to us because as The Church we focus heavily on the “feel good” aspects of Gods character. Honestly, if you’ve read or are reading The Bible with us, you’ll see… there isn’t nearly as much “feel good”, as there is “warning” inside - at least from our perspective. You see, we tend to water down the rebuke demanded by His Holiness. We fail to see His Grace and Mercy within His Judgment and Discipline. Remember in discipline His purpose is always our repentance, forgiveness and restoration! That’s True Love modeled by our God. “He ultimately demonstrated that Love through Jesus” . . . Who bore the horrific punishment, that we deserved, for our sin.
The unfortunate part is, among us there are those that are very committed to “their way”. They are so committed to living life the way they want and justify - that even in the face of discipline they won’t repent. We see it in those we minister to, give Truth to, and minister to, and minister to more. Northern Israel, called Ephraim was like that.
“The high places of wickedness will be destroyed— it is the sin of Israel. Thorns and thistles will grow up and cover their altars. Then they will say to the mountains, “Cover us!” and to the hills, “Fall on us!”” Hosea 10:8 NIV
Rather than repent they will simply cry out for the mountains to fall in them.
“Because you trusted in your own way” vs 13. This is the essence of all sin. We trust in our own way instead of in God’s way. Ruin always comes when we trust in our own way instead of God’s way, and that ruin was about to come upon Israel.
“Jesus is The Way, The Truth, and The Life. No one comes to The Father but through Him.” John 14:6. Our way doesn’t work!
Love you all! Dig in and live it out!
