Good Morning “Story Tellers.” Today we are in Psalm 116.
What’s your story? When were you “saved”, either physically or even more important spiritually? Have you ever shared your testimony, your salvation story? Shouldn’t we be proclaiming His name, His goodness, telling anyone who will listen about the one who snatched us from the pit through the Blood of Jesus?
Here the Psalmist makes note of exactly that. Death was at his doorstep and he cried out to The Lord and The Lord saved him. Now he’ll fulfill his vow in the courts, proclaiming His name.
Have you ever came face to face with death, or heard someone tell of their physical near death experience? I was in a horrible accident myself, and nearly died, in fact should have died. There is no earthly reason why I didn’t, even the Dr’s were amazed given the amount of blood loss. More than 1/2 of the blood in my body… wasn’t anymore. I’ve told the story many times now, often using it as an intro into the Gospel. It seems to open the ears of those who hear it.
Have you ever stopped to think about the world’s fascination with near death type experiences? People want to hear about them. WE want to hear about them. Why not the same reaction to our Spiritual salvation experience? I was lost and now I’m found (Luke 15:24). “I once was blind but now I see.” John 9:25 I was dead in my sins and trespasses, but now I’m alive in Christ - saved by Grace! (Ephesians 2:1-10)
Truth is we typically see way more rejoicing over someone saved from physical death than eternal. What gives? Shouldn’t it be the opposite? Saved from death and brought back to this temporal life in this crazy world or… saved from eternal condemnation, (Romans 8:1) our default destination and given REAL life both here on earth and eternally - ALL with Jesus. Which one is honestly more exciting?
Tell them! Tell them all about The One who conquered ETERNAL death! (1 Peter 3:15)
Love you all! Dig in!
