Psalm 126

Good Morning “Dreamers”.  Today we are in Psalm 126.

“When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream.” Psalm‬ ‭126‬:‭1‬ ‭ESV‬‬

This Psalm is likely referring to Israel’s (really Judahs) restoration after 70 years in Babylonian Exile.  You have lived most, or perhaps all of your life as a slave in Babylon… now imagine your surprise when King Cyrus, moved by God, decides he needs to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem.  Who wants to go home?  Check out Ezra 1:2-6.

Judah was “like those who dream”.  They thought they were dreaming.  They simply could not believe it was happening.  Then their amazement turned to laughter, then joy as they shouted and worshiped.  Even the other Gentile nations were amazed and could not deny that The God of ALL creation had done great things for them.  Their joy soon turns to longing for those captives that had not yet come home.  THAT is the more accurate original Hebrew text that comes into our language as “Restore our fortunes, O Lord, like streams in the Negeb!” Psalm‬ ‭126‬:‭4‬ ‭ESV‬‬

That verse really translates more like YAHWEH, bring our captives home (loosely).  They longed for awakening and revival.

Through the Blood of Jesus we too have been reconciled to God.  It may feel like a dream… it should, it’s miraculous.  That amazement should turn to incredible joy for us, such that we’re willing to commit our lives to Him (Romans 12:1).  Then, like Judah, hopefully our hearts break and we long for the lost to also be reconciled (2 Corinthians 5:18-21).  Share your joy with others.  It’s the job God gave us.

Love you all!  Dig in!
