Good Morning “Logical Livers.” Today we are in Psalm 81.
Asaph urges Israel and really all of us to repent and serve The Lord FULLY and ONLY! In that, we can shout for joy and praise Him.
He has proven Himself faithful in the past and will show Himself faithful in the future. Understand His faithfulness may come in the form of blessing or discipline, but you can count on His faithfulness.
Asaph mentions Gods testing at Meribah… “In your distress you called and I rescued you, I answered you out of a thundercloud; I tested you at the waters of Meribah.” Psalms 81:7 NIV
Remember God tested Israel led by Moses, twice at Meribah. The first time Moses was to strike the rock with his staff, he did - and God brought forth water as promised (Exodus 17:5-7). The idea was that if Israel surrendered to God they would find living water!
We know That Living Water is Jesus!!! Yeah!!! Still requires submission and obedience in demonstration of faith!
The 2nd time Moses was to only speak to the rock, demonstrating the power was all Gods and did not reside in the staff, or Moses. Moses had a bit of his own idea however, and struck the rock with his rod twice (Numbers 20:11-13). The water did flow forth abundantly, but because he didn’t choose to honor The Lord the 2nd time neither he nor Aaron would lead Israel into the Promised Land. Choices and consequences…
Man, life gets tough when we go our own way. Honestly, doesn’t it just seem more logical to do it Gods way instead of ours?
Love you all! Dig in!
