Good Morning “Future Anticipators.” Today we are in Zechariah 2.
There is a lot going on in this chapter of Zechariah. In the short term Jerusalem was protected during the rebuilding phase, especially under Ezra and Nehemiah. Ultimately she will experience The Lords protection through the Millennial Kingdom. Hoards of people will descend upon the Holy City in that time… the point being made by the measuring. Perhaps you recall the very detailed description of the rebuilding, the organization of worship, even the flow of people through Ezekiel chapters 40-48
Unfortunately during this time, many had become quite comfortable in their exiled lives in Babylon… hence the urging “Come, Zion! Escape, you who live in Daughter Babylon!” Zechariah 2:7 NIV
How many of us go on living our worldly lives, content to be fed kernels of happiness’s and pleasure from the world while Gods abundant life awaits?
Speaking of the long term prophecy here… we must employ what we’ve learned. Pay special attention to the exact language. Who’s speaking? What do we know about future end time events… when will these events occur? It’s AWESOME. “Many nations will be joined with the Lord in that day and will become my people. I will live among you and you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you. Zechariah 2:11 NIV
That day is coming!!!
