Good Morning “Perspective Broadeners”. Today we are in Psalm 95.
“Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.”
Psalms 95:1 NIV
The Psalmist urges Gods people to worship! He urges Israel and Judah to remember that God is The Creator and the Shepherd. He is faithful! He warned them not to slip into faithlessness like their ancestors, who grumbled against God and Moses when they couldn’t find water in the wilderness at Massah and Meribah (Exo 17).
How could they have forgotten Gods faithfulness? God rescued them from Egypt with 10 miraculous plagues, fully stocked with gold, and silver - just as He had promised (Exodus 3:19-22, Exodus 12:31-36). In the midst of their immediate concern they failed to look toward heaven, and instead focused only on their immediate need. With just a bit of suffering they forgot how faithful He had been! Would God have gone to all of that trouble, just to let them die of dehydration in the desert? Simply doesn’t make sense does it?
We must look in the mirror and ask ourselves the same question. When we find ourselves in the midst of a trying situation do we freak out… focusing only on what’s immediately in front of us, and forget all that He has done? It’s a natural reaction. Instead, we should take a step back, get a “broader perspective”, and consider all the ways God has been so faithful.
Knowing His Word gives us the foundation and footing we need to stay the course (Joshua 1:8-9, Psalm 119:9-16, John 16:33, Proverbs 3:5-6)
Love you all! Dig in!
