Psalm 96

Good Morning “Worshipers of The Creator not The Creation.”  Today are in Psalm 96.

“Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭96‬:‭1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Recently there seems to be a resurgence of creation worship - made up of those who seek to become “one with nature”.  Wicca, paganism, neopaganism, pantheism, polytheism, animism, and other related systems like totemism, and shamanism.  That’s a lot of ism’s… and I’ve just scratched the surface.  What do they all mean?  Basically each represents a different aspect of creation to focus worship on.  Some even try to blend these false worship systems with Christianity.  Truth is, a person can worship just about anything - but why?  Where does the urge to worship come from?

Dare I say it comes from inside us (Romans 1:18-20).  The Truth of God is written on all of our hearts.  Satan has always purposed to twist our belief in who God is - to deceive us into worship of anything other than The One True God.  I believe even the “earth worshipers” are convinced they ought worship.  Their worship is simply misapplied.

I get it… nature is awesome!  But, consider this… We may marvel at the masterpiece in the museum, or an incredible piece of architecture, but we understand it is the creator of the masterpiece that deserves the credit for it - not the masterpiece it’s self.  We also have NO question -  it had to have a creator.

Here the Psalmist reminds us - The One True God is the ONLY One worthy of our worship (Matthew 4:10).  He is the only one worthy of our fear (1 Samuel 12:24, Matthew 10:28). In fact we are told more than 300 times in Scripture not to fear ANYTHING - but God.  In fact true wisdom begins with just that (Proverbs 9:10).

Worship the Creator - not the creation!  Come on… sing with me!
“Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad…” Let the people of God sing His praise all over the land…

Love you all!  Dig in!
