Psalm 99

Good Morning “Short Fallers.”  Today we are in Psalm 99.

There is only ONE true God, the God of the Bible, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  He created EVERYTHING and is Lord over all creation.  That means that all men, everywhere, are accountable to Him.  Even those who do not believe in Him must someday answer to Him.  (Acts 17:30).

Today’s psalm begins with the holiness of God, who is high above the peoples and makes the nations tremble.

“…There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭22‬-‭23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“What shall we conclude then? Do we have any advantage? Not at all! For we have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin. As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.””
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭9‬-‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans‬ ‭6‬:‭23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Only through Jesus (John 14:6) may we be saved from our sin!  No one is righteous except Jesus!
I left out the first part of Rom 3:22 previously, that we might look at it now…

“This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile,”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭22‬ ‭NIV‬‬ If we believe in Jesus’ His righteousness is applied to our account.

Salvation, and redemption is offered to all…
“Therefore let it be known to you that the salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will hear it!” Acts 28:28 (NKJV)

Paul was on fire with this “Good News”!  Are we?

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Whether you are Jew or Gentile, or a great religious leader like Moses, Aaron, and Samuel, you are still a sinner in need of God’s grace and mercy.  Nobody is so good that they don’t need salvation.  But even though you may have committed great sins, nobody is so bad that they cannot receive salvation! God’s holiness (in His Word, the Bible) exposes our sin.  But Messiah Jesus has atoned for it on our behalf!

“for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.””
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The declaring your mouth part is simply the physical action that accompanies any true belief.  The action of our belief should be visible in our lives daily as we live out the Gospel…

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Live it!  Model it!  Share it with someone…

Love you all!  Dig in!
