Psalm 143

Good Morning “Those Who Apply.”  Today we are in Psalm 143.

Psalm 143 like 142 was obviously written during a time in David’s life when he was struggling.   Perhaps it too could have been written when he was fleeing from Saul… or perhaps a different enemy.  Perhaps as he fled from his own son Absalom.  Either way, always remember our enemy is not flesh and blood. Our opponent never changes… (Ephesians 6:12).  Our enemy the devil uses any means necessary in an attempt to destroy us - even those closest to us.

So, what does David do in the midst?  How does he march on in the face of what seems like abandonment?  “I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭143‬:‭5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This isn’t a new idea.  Throughout Scripture we are reminded of It’s power to strengthen us in the battle against evil.  Remember how Psalms started?  Review Psalm 1:1-3.  By knowing and applying The Word of God we’re promised guidance, and success in our battle against evil, sin, temptation (Joshua 1:8). By it we get encouragement to remain strong.

David knew where to go.  In a time of trial, and we will all go through those, David remembered Gods faithfulness in the past.  The same God that was faithful before will be faithful again… He doesn’t change.  As we press in to His Word, we get to know Him and His character through it. “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17 (NKJV)

When we know, and apply His Word we see it being lived… it’s alive (Hebrews 4:12)!  He changes us through it and that change cannot be denied (Isaiah 64:8, Philippians 1:6, John 9:25) That process builds our faith.

Love you all!  Dig in!
