Good Morning “Contagious Worshipers.” Today we are in Psalm 145.
David begins this Psalm focused on praising The Lord. “I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever.” Psalms 145:1-2
He is MOST worthy of our praise! Sing it! Davids relationship with The Lord is real and personal… there is no doubt. But, check it out. Something quickly changes… “One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.” Psalms 145:4 NIV
David is alluding to worship, and a love for The Lord and His Truth that is contagious! If we want to see the next generation of “believers”, worshiping, loving and living for Jesus we ought to model it! We would do well to take a lesson from Israel. When a generation rebelled against The Lord and began to worship other Gods - typically so did the next several generations to follow. (Judges 2:10-19).
It has been said that “The speed of the leader is the speed of the team.” “Values are not taught, they’re caught.” Whether those “sayings” reign 100% true or not, the idea of modeling Biblical Truth is not new, and IT works - that’s how Jesus did it!
Jesus is The Way and The Truth (John 14:6). Why water It down? Church attendance begins to suffer, so we respond with more “feel good messages”, more grace and goodies, less Truth. “That’ll bring them in.” Maybe more lights, smoke, entertainment. Look around. There is absolutely NO way we can compete with the world’s offerings when it comes to things that entertain our flesh. Why would we want to? We have something so much better…
Consider the Words of Jesus - “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.” John 6:63 NIV
To Satan as He was tempted -
“Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4:4
Don’t be afraid of The Truth! Live it, model it, be a contagious worshiper. They ought to want what we have in Jesus. Love you all! Dig in!
