Jeremiah 15

Good Morning “Jesus Lovers.”  Today we are in Jeremiah 15.

Chapter after Chapter, Book after Book God speaks through His prophets of His impending judgment on His people.  At first it seems harsh.  If you love people, the backsliders and the lost, your heart should sink as you read.  Why, why is God so “harsh”?

First, note this: understand that as we read and study continued reminders to Israel, they were reminded, urged, pled with to turn back to God - AT LEAST that many times. Not EVERYTHING that happened was recorded in Scripture, so who knows how many times God through the prophets - actually pled with the “backsliders”.

Nevertheless; what we do know is they rejected Him, His Word, and even His rebuke.

“…I will bring bereavement and destruction on my people, for they have not changed their ways.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭15‬:‭7‬bNIV‬‬

Second, as we rush to judge Gods patience, and His justice, may we never forget the repeated, continual offer of redemption through repentance.  The answer was and is simple.

“Therefore this is what the Lord says: “If you repent, I will restore you that you may serve me;
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭15‬:‭19‬a NIV‬‬

The same is true for us…

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

He is not “harsh”, He is MERCIFUL, and full of Grace. For now that is… The end of it all will come.  If we wait to “change our ways”, “repent” and turn back to Him and His Word, until the moment we stand before Him - it’s too late.  It will not matter in that moment, how righteous we may have appeared… the question will be where is our heart, really?  What did we do with Jesus?

““Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’” Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭21‬-‭23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Don’t wait, and don’t wait to tell those in your midst.  Love you all!  Dig in!
