Good Morning “Word of God Digesters.” Today we are in Ezekiel 3.
Ezekiel had to be obedient and open his mouth… then The Lord was faithful, and gave him His Word. His Word was sweet, despite containing a convicting message, His Word is GOOD! We must internalize it! It is food for our soul… “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4
God clearly instructed Ezekiel to share His Word. Whether they listen or not was irrelevant. Ezekiel was to be obedient.
“He then said to me: “Son of man, go now to the people of Israel and speak my words to them.”
Ezekiel 3:4 NIV
Ezekiel was called to stand a post, be a watchman for Israel. Even in their rebellion God appointed Ezekiel to be ready to sound the cry when danger approached. That was the job of the watchman. Both as it relates to their physical well being and their spiritual… Ezekiel was to be their watchman. God never abandons His children.
The responsibility was a heavy one. Obedience was demanded and expected and came with a warning.
“When I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. But if you do warn the wicked person and they do not turn from their wickedness or from their evil ways, they will die for their sin; but you will have saved yourself.”
Ezekiel 3:18-19 NIV
Ezekiel would have their blood on his hands, their earthly judgment… not to suggest he was responsible for their eternal fate… “they will die for their sin.” We all know the expectation God has for us to share His Word as well. James reiterates the importance of Gods call (James 5:19-20).
Acts 1:8, and Matthew 28:18-20 are not suggestions. These verses make it quite clear. Ephesians 2:8-10 reminds us that we were included in Gods plan all along.
Paul reinforces the charge in
Romans 10:13-15.
As followers of Jesus must be in The Word if we are going to be “In Him” (John 1, John 15:5). We must digest it, internalize it, live it, and share it!
Love you all! Dig in!
