Matthew 20

Good Morning “Compassionate”.  Today we are in Matthew 20.

Have you ever looked at someone who lives their entire life selfishly, seemingly only for themselves?  If a good tree doesn’t bare bad fruit and a bad tree good fruit (Matthew 7:17-18) then it would seem they are a bad tree.  Have you ever heard someone say, well maybe they turned to Jesus on their death bed?  Maybe like the thief on the cross (Luke 23:39-43)?  Does that seem fair?  That’s the funny thing about the Mercy and Grace of God through Jesus.  We don’t get to decide who it’s for and who it isn’t!  It’s also not about fair.  We don’t want fair… if it was all about fair, WE would never receive life in Jesus!  We would have no hope for eternal life in heaven!

Fair and Justice = eternal separation from God.  Our sin has earned us death (Romans 3:23, 6:23).  Hell is our default destination.  It’s not about being good enough, or even good enough long enough.  It’s ALL and ONLY about Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:24; Ephesians 8-9) Checkout how Jesus reminds the Disciples of just that.

Did you, do you - have a helicopter mom?  Are you a helicopter mom?  A mommas love wants the best, so moms get involved… maybe sometimes too much.  Have you ever had to tell your mom to stay out of it?  Or even worse have you secretly had your mom do your bidding for you?  However it went down, James and John’s mom has something important to ask Jesus.  You gotta read this (vs 20-28).

Everywhere Jesus went He had compassion on those that were hurting - and took time.  Hmmmm, something more we could learn and apply (Romans 8:29).

Love you all!  Dig in and live it out!
